First of all, I would like to thank the world of technology for being able to find and purchase old books. This book was written before copyright laws-so your main library, at best, has this title in its closed stacks, where one may not even be able to breathe on the damn pages, let alone take it home.I appreciate Cooley's work because he challenges me to think. I purchased this book because I liked his "Looking Glass Theory" enough to want to be around this guy's thoughts more. Surprisingly, this theory isn't central in his writing-which i thought it would be, since it is so notorious.
He breaks different aspects of the human condition down and intelligently explains his viewpoint in a way that isn't too pushy or narrow for the reader; this provokes constant reflection for anyone thinking of reading this, which may end up being a slow read, but time well spent.
This book offers enough on the human condition, just short of having to build your own lab in your basement. When you flip your last page, you'll appreciate that you didn't shell out money at a community college, yet learned just the same-for only a few dollars.

Human Nature and the Social Order Charles Horton Cooley 9781355899617 Books Reviews
It is almost impossible to read the kindle edition of this book. It includes serious errors with transformation from pdf to a kindle type.
Cooley's work lays the foundation for all studies and research in sociology
Older research books are hard to find and it was great to see it on kindle at an affordable price
The edition of this book is obviously a product of optical recognition software, which would be fine if someone had proofread it carefully. Instead, it is saturated with typos and hence often very hard to read. Even when the English seems correct, one wonders if it is only accidentally correct. I wouldn't dare quote from it in a paper. Here is an example taken at random "By hero-worship is here meant an emulation that 3 lr 11 strives to imitate some admired character, in a spirit VII II not of rivalry or opposition, but of loyal enthusiasm." The text is peppered with odd little typos, such as "yery" in place of "very." If it is going to made publicly available, it should be free.
As great as the content is, the layout of the book was not particularly conducive to being legible. The font was small and each page has multiple columns of text. However, it arrived quickly and was indeed the book I was hoping to receive.
This in an old non copyright book that was scanned into electronic format. The information needed to obtain the overall theory of Charles Horton Cooly is there, but it has many errors due to the scanning software used to change the format. I basically needs to be edited. Overall, if you need to write a research paper on the Looking Glass Theory, this is the book you should use.
